WPPI and The Business of Wedding Photography Master Class

How WPPI has helped us and why you should go: I can honestly say that our business wouldn’t be what it is today without WPPI! The knowledge and inspiration we have gained and the relationships we’ve forged have been invaluable. We’ve attended faithfully for the last 14 years and highly recommend it to every wedding or portrait photographer. Speaking of relationships, I can’t think of another industry where competitors, even in the same market and even in a bad economy, are more generous and helpful with each other. This is the feeling you have through out the convention — if you work at it and keep in touch with your new, and old, friends, this positive feeling about your business and our industry will stay with you for the whole year!

What our Master Class is about: For the last 5 years, Mirta and I have been honored to present a WPPI Master Class on the business of Wedding Photography. Other than mentioning the products and vendors we use, and giving away some of their products and services, we don’t sell anything. We only share the experience others have shared with us, and the practices that we’ve developed through trial and error to make our business successful. If you’ve joined our industry recently, or are a seasoned pro looking for a fresh business approach, we’d love to share with you how we run our business, what works for us, how we identify and market to the right clients, how we price our work, how we shoot for the album (albums are always included) and, of course, how we sell; from engagement session products to extra album images and parents’ albums. We also talk about how we keep these valued clients, who can even bring us commercial assignments in addition to maternity, family portraits, etc.

What’s in it for us: We are very fortunate to make a good living doing something we love in a great industry. We truly are passionate about our work!
